On late 2007-2010 Duramax trucks, the factory transmission housings are prone to cracking due to excessive driveline vibration. A failing u-joint or an improperly balanced driveshaft due to a dented or bent shaft can cause the infamous Duramax driveline vibration. The factory transmission housing is quite heavy and is supported only by the bolts on the rear of the transmission. To remedy this common problem, Merchant Auto has developed a Transmission Rear Housing Support to aid in supporting this area, adding strength, and preventing cracking on the factory housing.
This Merchant Automotive Allison transmission housing support is made from ⅞” .120” wall thickness DOM mild steel tubing and 3/16” plate steel.. The plate welded onto this support also features our iconic MA logo to show off your favorite diesel performance parts provider. This combo makes for a solid support that will aid in supporting trucks used in off-road and harsh conditions. Not only does it perform well, it looks great as well with it’s bright orange finish that is sure to add a custom look to your truck. This support brace can help save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars in future damage by preventing the housing from cracking. This transmission rear housing support is installed with basic hand tools and your factory bolts.
